This is for those of you who have been die-hard fans of the Detroit Tigers thorough it all, the good and the bad. Many of us were sitting on the edge of our seats during Game 4 of the ALCS, when the Detroit Tigers were down 3-0 in the fourth inning against the Oakland Athletics and were just one game away from the World Series. We all know how the game ended; Magglio Ordonez belted a 3-run walk off homerun to send the Tigers to the World Series for the first time since 1984. This is an incredible milestone for the Tigers as well as the hardcore fans not to mention that it was on the Tigers turf, Comerica Park. The Tigers have not seen a post-season game in 19 years and have not had a winning season since 1993. In the last five seasons alone, the Tigers have lost 502 games and 119 in the 2003 season alone. When Spring Training began for the 2006 season, the Tigers were still a laughing stock in professional baseball and are now the 2006 American League Champions. The Tigers 12 consecutive losing seasons is the most by any other team who has headed to the Word Series. The previous record holder was the Boston Braves who had 11 seasons below .500 before going to the 1914 World Series and sweeping the Philadelphia As in four games. The St. Louis Cardinals started the series with a 7-2 win over the Tigers but our Detroit boys came back in Game 2 with a 3-1 win over the Cardinals despite the Kenny Rogers controversy. St. Louis came back in Game 3 to win by a score of 5-0. Game 4 of the World Series had to be delayed because of rain. The Tigers and the Cardinals will play Game and 5 in St. Louis and Games 6 and 7 will be played in Detroit. Fans brought back the rally towels and hats from the first two rounds of the postseason. The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup after 42 years, the Detroit Pistons came out of nowhere to win the national championship, and even though the Detroit Lions have never won the Super Bowl, the Super Bowl was in Detroit last year. It is about time for the Tigers to have their glory and they are going to their first Fall Classic in 22 years, exactly 22 to years to the day that they won the World Series in 1984. Restore the Roar to Detroit! GO TIGERS!
