The Lake Superior State University men came into Saturdays game against Wayne State excited from their big win over Hillsdale on Thursday. As the game began, the Lakers held their own; it would be irrelevant, however, due to the fact that the Warriors started two division 1 transfer players, one coming from Oakland University, and the other from Arkansas Pine Bluff. The Lakers opened up shooting the ball well and playing a tough zone defense. Mark Moorse was big from the three point line early on, keeping the Lakers in the game. Wayne State looked like its offense ran much smoother than LSSUs mostly due to their star player, Kris Krzyminski, but the Lakers were playing extremely well and showed the heart they have had in the past month. LSSU took grabbed a 20 to 17 lead with a huge dunk from Scott Perkins. As the half ended the Lakers were only trailing by 7, 34 to 27.

It looked as if this game had the potential to come down to the wire; however Wayne State had other ideas. WSU proved they are not just fast, but quick in handling the ball and working it around the top of the key. During an early timeout taken by coach Fitzner, he asked his men where the intensity and toughness was that he had told them to play with at halftime. The Lakers looked nothing like they had in the first half (which is nothing new). Much of the second half was full of the Warriors taking advantage of Laker mistakes and missed shots. LSSU had no answers for the offense and defense that Wayne State threw at them. Kris Krzyminski continued to take advantage of LSSU totaling 28 points by the end of the game. The Warriors proved to be too much as the held of the Lakers 77-54.

Scott Perkins totaled 14 points and three assists to lead LSSU (8-12 overall, 5-6 GLIAC). Ryan Kuhl added 12 points and seven rebounds.
