Coming off a thrilling win over OSU Friday night, the Lakers were ready to get back on the ice and take it to the buckeyes. This night however, Ohio State proved to be a tougher team than they appeared on Friday.

The Lakers looked nothing like they had in Friday nights match up. Ohio State took a commanding 2 to 0 lead in less then five minutes into the game. You could see from the fear in the faces of the Laker fans that this was not going to be a good night. LSSU was having trouble keeping the puck on Ohio States end of the ice resulting in having to play defense most of the night. They could not set up a successful attacking offense without overbearing pressure from OSU. The Buckeyes scored again making it a 3 to 0 game in late in the second period.

Coming out from the locker room starting the third period, the Lakers were looking for some kind of miracle to get themselves of out the slump. It appeared for a while that the miracle had finally shown up, as Josh Sim scored his team high 13th goal of the season. Four minutes later, Trent Campell added another goal cutting Ohio States lead to only one with ten minutes to play. Taffy Abel Arena was finally filled with clapping and cheering as the crowd rose to their feet to inspire the men on the ice. It looked as if the Lakers were going to fulfill everyones hopes and come back to tie the game at three. However, Ohio State found their groove, and scored again on LSSU goaltender Pat Iglis. LSSU pulled Iglis with little time left to put more pressure on OSUs net. With the advantage of a 6 to 4 power play, it looked as if it might be possible, but Ohio State found a way to score another goal, and securing the game 5 to 3.

LSSU out-shot OSU in the third period, 15-5, to claim a 32-29 edge for the game. The Lakers finished 2-for-8 on the power play, while the Buckeyes were 1-for-3. Inglis totaled 24 saves. OSU goaltender Joseph Palmer (10-9-4) totaled 29 saves. Lake Superior State opens a home-and-home series against Northern Michigan at 7:35 p.m. Friday at Marquette.
