Devils night and Halloween are now over; the damage has been done, and as the kids are home chowing down on their new found booty, we take the time to reflect over damages and memories. From what can be seen, Devils night produced no evil, not even a whimper of vandalism on campus. The halls remain clean, the trees clear of toilet paper and debris, and what pumpkins fear most; the horrid pumpkin chunkin that is a trademark of Devils night, did not occur.

Since Devils night was quiet we look further on and feast our eyes upon Halloween. Even though it was a cold windy night and gloomy at the least; it was perfect for trick or treating. Children went home with full bags, parents went home with the pleasure from their childrens smiles and the thought they need to do inspections of the candy. Mind you that is not all that occurred on Halloween night. Other events did occur, some that you may have not been aware of.

On campus, the resident halls of Brady and Osborn opened up their doors to community, students, and staff, for a bit of trick or treating fun. Also, deep down in the darkest dungeons of the campuss scariest building, a meeting was held. A society so secret that even the members dont know each other, put together a calamity so awe striking that even the lion-hearted would quake in their boots. Activities Board hosted a Halloween Bash in which students could participate in games and contests, as well as enjoy free food and take home a few goodies.

Out of all the events the winner for the dangling donuts game was Aaron Kopitz and the apple bobbing contest went to D.J. Battistella. For the costume contest there were two ties for third, Aaron Kopitz as The Compass Newspaper and Erika Dykstra as a blast from the past 80s chick. Second place was a shared prize between Amy Lundberg and Pete Bush as Hotlips Houlihan and Hawkeye Pierce from M.A.S.H. First place went to D.J. Battistella as the ever so famous and ever so powerful, Quail-Man.

This year there has been some controversy on the Halloween Bash vs. Midnight Breakfast. For those who do not know what Midnight Breakfast is, it is an event that is traditionally held twice a year: Halloween night and during Winter Carnival. Basically, students show up at 11:00pm to eat breakfast being served by their professors. There are also games, contests, and prizes available to students. Activities Board Director Amy Chrispell, was unavailable for a comment on why Midnight Breakfast did not occur this year.

Halloween, for the most part, was another success this year; there was no reported vandalism and candy was given to the masses. If you found your Halloween to be lacking in spirit you might want to talk to Student Life and Activities Board on what they can do for next year to better heighten your Halloween experience.
