Did the Ballet score Points?

Here at Lake State we had the good fortune to book a production of Twas the Night Before Christmas by the U.S.A Ballet, through the cooperation of Lake States Art Center, STARS Studio a local dance studio and U.S.A. Ballet, an internationally known ballet company. Many students and residents of the Twin Saults were eager to see a ballet production. Since the Upper Peninsula isnt known for its worldly culture attendants appreciated having the chance to see something uncommon for our location.
U.S.A. Ballet encourages dancers from the community to perform with them. This gives local dancers the chance to experience a professional performance. It also enhances the personal connection the audience has with the show. Many dancers from STARS Studio appreciated the opportunity to perform in front of their community and alongside professionals.
Although there were mixed reviews, the show was a success. Two performances were held on December 2 at 2pm and again at 7pm and both shows were jammed packed. There was barely a seat left in the house during the afternoon show and the seven oclock show was completely sold out.
Talking to audience members immediately after the show, and later the next day, revealed many mixed opinions. Some people had trouble seeing a plot develop; others found the show difficult to follow. Some people absolutely loved the show while others complained that certain scenes were too long and there was too much dancing. When asked if they would attend another ballet production some audience members said yes while others were completely opposed to the idea.
Even with only two shows, the Art Center and Lake State, along with STARS Studio, brought something new to the Sault community and students.
