This past week was the beginning of Greek Week here at Lake Superior State University. What is Greek Week you may ask? Greek Week is a time in the spring when the members of the fraternities and sororities on campus come together at different events put on by the Inter-Greek Council (IGC) to compete and win points/prizes. Although it is called Greek Week here at Lake State, it is more of a Greek Month. Because of conflicting schedules, IGC had to spread Greek Week out over three weeks in order to fit in all the events.
The different Greek organizations participating include the four fraternities: Delta Sigma Phi, Lambda Sigma Beta, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Theta Xi, and the three sororities: Alpha Kappa Chi, Alpha Theta Omega, and Sigma Lambda Sigma. Some of the events include: An Elvis and Showgirl Beauty Pageant (held this past Wednesday), a movie night, a talent show, Casino night held with Activities Board, the Greek Olympics (which includes a Chariot Race) and a Luau, which is going to include a Pig Roast. The final Greek Week event is the Formal Awards Banquet at the Kewadin Casino.
