The Lord of the Rings: The Return of Sauron

M. Night Shyamalans The Lord of the Rings: The Return of Sauron revamps the tried and true fantasy adventure with new additions to the Lord of the Rings saga. With an all new cast replacing the old actors, each character is given new life through the professional acting of this new generation of Middle Earth denizens. Shyamalans signature twist adds another subplot to the already well-known Lord of the Rings plot. In it, Sauron returns to Middle Earth to reclaim his land accompanied by corrupted Jedi that have turned to the dark side. The familiar team has to band together and, with the help of Spiderman and Aquaman, fight off the evil invasion and save their homeland once more from the evil Sauron.
Bruce Willis stars as Frodo Baggins alongside Bruce Campbell (playing Aragorn), Pauly Shore (Legolas), Danny DeVito (Gimli) and Sean Connery (Gandalf). Each actor brings their own special flair to their parts and breathes new life into the LotR franchise.
After watching the film, I was impressed by the extensive twist that brought the Dark Side to Middle Earth. The Light Saber battles against legions of orcs were visual feasts that lasted more than five and a half hours. The total running length of the film was 9 hours and 45 minutes, which was just short enough to not get boring.
Not once during the action of the film did I feel bored or confused. The Jedi subplot was added discreetly and logically about halfway through the film and didnt detract at all from the movies quality.
Filmmakers also intelligently included the zombie apocalypse which brought new problems for the band of merry fellows. The Fellowship had to fight their way through the hordes of the undead and then finally defend their land from the evil Jedi.
Overall the movie was an entertaining visual feast. The movie will be playing at our local Carmike Theaters for the next three weeks. Be sure to go and see it!
