Open Season, Buddy!
Laura Hohendorf
There is one word to describe Open Season, Buddy.
It is an animated film about the values and challenges of friendship. The movie features an unlikely duo of a bear named Boog and a deer named Elliot who together share times of companionship and hardship. Boog is removed from his comfortable lifestyle of the garage and placed in the wild. Boogs main goal is to get back to his garage and his old life. Early in the movie Boog rescues Elliot from an untimely death and a bad encounter with Shaw, a disgruntled hunter. Elliot is forever indebted to Boog and they stick together like glue through thick and thin. The unlikely duo faces challenges of survival, friendship, and environmental problems. After causing destruction all along their trip home, they gain enemies/friends who have been displaced from their homes. Boog finally makes it to somewhere familiar to him, but realizes there is more to life than what he once thought.
This movie is excellent for stress relief after the long week of midterms or just good for a laugh. It is appropriate for all ages and personalities.
