Laker Womens Volleyball

With an overall record of five wins and eighteen losses, the Laker Womens Volleyball team will struggle to come ahead in their remaining six games. Its been a disappointing year, stated Mark Engle, Head Coach for the Womans Volleyball team; We have many tough teams in our conference and our team is young and inexperienced. However, we have had a few close games. The Laker Volleyball team faced off with Grand Valley State, last years national champion, in a three-match game. Grand Valley State won with scores of 30-22, 30-23, and 30-27, but LSSU managed a slight lead in all three sets. According to Coach Engle, the girls are still positive and focused for their up coming games. Engle encourages the team to learn from their experiences this year to help next year. The teams short-term goals are to win some of their final six games and are watching videos of previous matches to help prepare. Their long-term goals are to build a base for next year using this season as a learning experience. All the girls have great potential and they all contribute to the team. Coach Engle said. They all get along together great so next year should take off well. Coach Engle has high hopes for the team next year but he still expects to add a few more players to the team. Currently, the Womens Volleyball team practices in the morning three to four times a week, and spend their own time lifting weights and conditioning. The team travels an average of five and a half hours for every away game.
