Laker Hockey vs. Laker Hockey



On Saturday September 30, 2006, the mens Laker Hockey team skated on to the ice, to take on one another, during the blue and white game.  It was a free event to students and the public, to come out and support Laker Hockey.  As an added bonus, The hockey program provided free pizzas from Hungry Howies to the students sitting in the  student section during the first half.



The game was played in two twenty four minute halves in which the white team dominated the blue team allowing a total of seven goals, four of which were in the first half.  The first three goals in the half were all unassisted.  Senior Trent Campbell scored one, and freshman Nathan Perkovich with the other two.  Others scoring for the white team included senior Dominic Osman, sophomore Troy Schwab and walk-on candidate Sean Kavanaugh.  Contributing two assists was walk-on candidate Chad Swartzentruber and Osman, senior Jeff Rainville and freshman Steven Kaunisto each had one assist.



For the blue team, senior Derek R. Smith and junior Carter Lee each scored a goal.  Contributing with one assist each was senior Barnabas Birkeland, freshman Matt Martello and freshman John Scrymgeour.



Senior Jeff Jakaitis played the second half of the game for the blue team, allowing three goals and had a total of thirteen saves.  For the white team, freshman goaltender Pat Inglis played for a total of 36:22 minutes and stopped 20 out of 21 shots made.  He was replaced during the second half by freshman Mitch Edmondson who started off on the blue team when he allowed four goals and had seven saves.  While in the white net he totaled seven saves and let in one goal.



Dont forget to catch the opening game for Laker Hockey on Saturday October 7 at 7:05 pm at Pullar Stadium.  Tickets for the game are only $3 for students with ID and can be purchased at the LSSU Norris Center Ticket Office.
