Project Description

When searching containers at security checkpoints, we can combine a set of speedy diagnostic tests to prevent undesirable contents from passing through. The work of Boros et al. establishes a model framework to evaluate such tests for optimal efficiency. Our current work seeks to generalize this model in two different ways. Instead of one type of infinitely costly breach (nuclear weapon), we can account for (1) various types of breaches and (2) finitely costly breaches, such as drugs, biohazards, illegal immigrants, etc.
